Landon House is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a featured stop
on Maryland’s Civil War Trails program. The house served as a hospital for both
Union and Confederate troops and still has original signed and dated Civil War
“lightning sketches” on the walls, drawn by Yankee and Rebel soldiers.
Set back from the “Washington Pike” (now Route 355), Landon is a national treasure
that has survived for 250 years, beautifully intact from its days as a silk mill, girls
school and boys military academy. ACG has been providing lead Architect services
as the building is progressively renovated. Currently used for weddings,
receptions and historic re-enactments, long term plans for the building's
preservation include housing the Maryland Museum of Civil War History in the
lower level. Reconciling the requirements of modern use (including Americans
with Disabilities Act impact) with the historic character and construction of a
"working" building is a creative challenge.

200 South Market Street - Frederick Maryland. Interior/Exterior Renovation
This project involved the complete conversion of a three story designated historic
building, achieved by working closely with local Historic Preservation Commission
and surrounding community concerns. Space occupied by a ground floor retail
shop was converted and brought up to code for use by a popular local restaurant.
Existing 2nd and 3rd floor room spaces were converted to one and two bedroom
apartments. Structural instabilities due to aged construction and wear and tear
were researched, identified and rectified throughout the renovation process.
